(Captain Cook & Co. 250 years since the “Return from the South Seas”)
is the name of an exhibition running from 19 October, 2025, to 25 January, 2026
Curated by Frank Vorpahl, a world expert on Captain Cook and the Forsters.
It features the manuscript journal kept by Johann Reinhold Forster, which was the basis for the publication by his son George of the account of the voyage,
together with original cultural objects from the Ethnological Museum in Berlin, brought to Europe from the Pacific during Cook’s voyages.
It is being held at Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin, Unter den Linden 8, 10117 Berlin
Admission is free.

This temporary exhibiotn is located within the permanent exhibition, the “Kunstwerk” ,
where a letter about the purchase of Diligence (whiche became Discovery) by Captain Cook is also on display.
