Hello, I am the executive director with the Battle Harbour Historic Trust in Southern Labrador. I am researching the naming of "Battle Harbour". Captain Cook first put "Battle Harbour" on a map in “A General Chart of the Island of Newfoundland”, 1775. I am specifically looking for clues as to how he named the Island. Up to that point it has been noted on maps as Is. Datel or Is. De Atel. If you have access to any records/logs that explain the name, I would appreciate knowing about them. Thank you, Peter Bull Executive Director Battle Harbour Historic Trust
